Description

This hori-hori knife model is called Yamakodachi, meaning “mountain short sword”. It is a smaller sized digging knife that is easy to carry when gardening, foraging and camping. The ingenious multifunctional design of the blade allows you to perform almost all gardening tasks using only one tool – dig, weed, plant, separate and even cut through roots and small branches. 

“Hori” means dig in Japanese, and this style of knife is said to derive from tools used by the "Matagi", people who hunted in the mountains. It’s made by experienced metal craftsmen in Japan and recognized all over the world as a high-quality product, guaranteed to last. The traditional manufacturing process includes heat-treating the entire blade, which results in uniform hardness, and allows for resharpening.

Measurement markings have been engraved on one side of the blade, for precise planting depth. A synthetic leather sheath is included to protect the blade when not in use. The sheath has a belt loop, which make it easy to carry this mini knife with you when out on excursions. The knife and sheath arrive in a secure, photo-printed box, which makes it a really nice gift for gardeners and outdoorsy people.
